The Mother Wound

Amani Haydar is an artist, lawyer, mum and advocate for women's health and safety based in Western Sydney. Amani's writing and illustrations have been published in ABC News Online and SBS Life and her self-portrait Insert Headline Here was a finalist in the 2018 Archibald Prize. The Mother Wound is her first book.

Lur Alghurabi is an Iraqi and Australian writer, poet and playwright, and Co-Director of the National Young Writers’ Festival. She is winner of the AM Heath Prize for Prose and the Scribe Nonfiction Prize, and shortlistee of the Deborah Cass Prize. She has been widely published in Australia and the US including fine print magazine, LitHub, The Lifted Brow, Scum Mag, Kill Your Darlings, Right Now, Going Down Swinging and Meanjin. Lur is a recent alumna of the Oxford University Master's in Creative Writing with Distinction. She is working on her first book of personal essays.
