Hometown Haunts is a #LoveOzYa homegrown horror anthology featuring some of SA’s finest authors. Join editor and contributing author Poppy Nwosu in a conversation with writers Vikki Wakefield, Jared Thomas and Sarah Epstein. They’ll explore some of the most beloved and thrilling tropes and themes of the horror genre – from body horror to the supernatural, hauntings to everyday evils.

Participants

Sarah Epstein is an Australian author based in Melbourne. Her award-winning debut novel, Small Spaces, has been optioned for film, and her second novel, Deep Water, also received multiple award nominations. Sarah is a contributor to the YA horror anthology Hometown Haunts, and she recently launched her new YA book series with Piece of Cake and Sugarcoated.

Poppy Nwosu is an author of young adult fiction. She has published three romantic contemporary novels called Making Friends with Alice Dyson, Taking Down Evelyn Tait, and Road Tripping with Pearl Nash, and is the creator of the YA anthology Hometown Haunts: #LoveOzYA Horror Tales.

Jared Thomas is a Nukunu person of the Southern Flinders Ranges. He is an international award-winning author and has also worked as the Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art and Material Culture at the South Australian Museum.

Vikki Wakefield writes realistic fiction for Young Adults. Her work explores coming-of-age, family, class, relationships and the lives of contemporary Australian teens, and includes award-winning novels All I Ever Wanted, Friday Brown, Inbetween Days, and Ballad for a Mad Girl. Her latest novel This Is How We Change the Ending was long-listed for The Stella Prize and awarded the 2020 CBCA Book of the Year, Older Readers. Vikki lives and writes in Adelaide, Australia.
