Hear Me Roar!

Evelyn Araluen is a poet, researcher, co-editor of Overland and a descendant of the Bundjalung Nation. Her widely published criticism, fiction and poetry has been awarded prizes including the Nakata Brophy Prize for Young Indigenous Writers and the Judith Wright Poetry Prize. Dropbear is her debut poetry collection.

Pola Fanous is a Coptic Orthodox performance poet, author, and educator. Pola was the 2018 NSW Poetry Slam Champion and has performed Australia-wide at locations including the Opera House and the Parliament House of Australia. Pola has published two books, a collection of poetry titled ‘STRONGSOFT’ (2018) and a devotional on discovering love through faith ‘Abba Father’ (2021). Pola is currently completing his Masters in Secondary Education (Leading Teaching) at the Australian Catholic University, whilst teaching English and Humanities at a high school in regional Victoria.

Tyberius Larking is an Indian and Aboriginal poet and visual artist heavily inspired by the connectedness of global anticapitalist struggles and the shockwaves of human empathy that radiate outwards from those struggles.

Sara Mansour is a lawyer, poet and the co-founder and artistic director of Bankstown Poetry Slam (BPS), Australia's largest poetry slam. Founded in 2013, BPS has partnered with a number of leading organisations and festivals over the years such as Youtube, Sydney Festival, the Biennale of Sydney, Sydney Writers Festival and the Art Gallery of NSW. She is also the curator of "Real Talk" - an award-winning inter-school poetry program which uses performance poetry as a medium to discuss contemporary social issues and empower young people in Western Sydney to find and use their voices.

Daniel Mateo is a descendant of Gomeroi and of Ma’ufanga in the pasifika islands of Tonga. He explores colonial language to express Blak Australians’ pain, excellence and history and transports listeners with his visual poetry.​

Tracey O’Callaghan first performed poetry on stage in 2018. A finalist in the SA Poetry Slam from 2018-20, she was crowned its winner in 2021.

Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet and author. Her most recent collection, C+NTO & Othered Poems, won the 2021 T.S. Eliot Prize and was named by The Telegraph, the New Statesman, The White Review & Times Literary Supplement as one of the best poetry books of 2021. Joelle founded SLAMbassadors, the UK national youth poetry slam championships, as well as the international spoken-word project Borderlines, and is a co-curator and host of Out- Spoken Live, the UK’s premier poetry and music club currently resident at the Southbank Centre. She is the commissioning editor at Out-Spoken Press 2020-2022.
