Storytelling is a powerful tool for connection and education – and one that is increasingly used to bring attention to important issues like the climate crisis. Be it through film, poetry, journalism, books and social media, stories bring science and the arts together to provide new ways for people to engage with and understand climate issues. But how can storytelling and creative expression lead to action? How can stories help to create a shift in thinking or increase understanding? How can knowledge transfer from our oldest continuous living culture into storytelling about the environment? This discussion will delve into the politicisation of climate change, the importance of raising up Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and voices, and using stories to drive social responsibility and action.
